Localhost & Login Challenges

The Uiprobe web app can only compare pages it can access directly. If the page you want to validate requires authentication or is hosted on a local environment, the web app won't be able to reach it.

For these situations, use the Uiprobe Chrome Extension.

When this applies

Use the Chrome Extension instead of the web app if the page you want to compare:

• is hosted on localhost
• requires a login to access
• is on a staging or internal environment that isn't publicly accessible

How to fix it

1. Make sure the Chrome Extension is installed.
2. Open the page you want to compare in Chrome and make sure it's fully loaded.
3. Click the Uiprobe icon in your browser toolbar and run the probe from there.

The extension runs the comparison directly from your browser session, so it can access pages the web app cannot.
